Moshiri heading for another Everton disaster as report shares worrying transfer claim

Everton are struggling once again in their Premier League campaign as they sit just one point shy of dropping into the relegation zone following a poor run of form, and it is not looking promising that Frank Lampard will be given funds to strengthen his team in the January transfer window.

What’s the latest?

According to Football Insider, the Everton hierarchy are not willing to spend big in the upcoming transfer window.

As per the report, Farhad Moshiri is not keen to splash out on signings during the winter market despite the prospect of another relegation battle as the owner’s long-term intentions continue to be questioned.

The powers at Goodison Park believe that Lampard was sufficiently backed in the summer and the new signings have improved the team.

Moshiri heading for disaster

There is no doubt that the arrival of the likes of Conor Coady and James Tarkowski have been hugely valuable to Everton, however, the team’s lack of attacking threat is a cause for concern that must be addressed ahead of the second half of the season.

Only Wolverhampton Wanderers have scored fewer goals in the Premier League this season which could be caused by the £60m sale of Richarlison and the ongoing issues with Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s fitness.

Indeed, Everton did sign Neal Maupay and Dwight McNeil to bolster the front line but between them they have only scored three goals, so signing a forward who can offer a more reliable and consistent output in front of goal is becoming a matter of urgency at Goodison Park.

It was reported earlier this week that the Everton hierarchy were looking at potentially replacing Lampard with former Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa, but the claims were quickly shot down when it was revealed that the club were willing to stick with the current manager for the foreseeable future.

However, a lack of investment in January would signal that Moshiri is not willing to support the manager in his challenge to succeed with the Merseysiders and will surely only revive more speculation surrounding the former Chelsea boss’ future at the club.

With that being said, if Moshiri does not give Lampard the resources to make crucial signings in the January transfer window the club could be heading for disaster in the second half of the campaign with the potential for relegation and yet another managerial sacking looming.

Of course, it would be foolish to spend as recklessly as they have done for the majority of Moshiri’s reign, but not investing at all would be gut-wrenching for the current manager.
